Smart-Fill systems can be fitted with "Smart-Dip" automated tank dipping, or the Smart-Dip is available as a separate unit. This enables you to view the tank levels at any time, either on the system LC display, or via SMS from any mobile phone.

You simply send the system an SMS text message, then the tank balances will be sent back in a text message to your mobile phone.

This feature can be combined with a Smart-Fill fuel management system, or it can be installed as a stand alone tank gauging unit.

What is SmartDip ?
An electronic automatic tank gauging system which can monitor up to 8 tanks, which can send tank levels to you on demand via mobile phone SMS messaging.

How does it work ?
A pressure sensor is installed into your tank(s), either in the water drainoff at the bottom of the tank, or through the top of the tank in a sealed tube. The Smart-Dip electronics are connected to the sensor via a data cable, and the electronics measure the pressure in the tank. Weight conversion and density correction are applied and then the system refers to the tank chart chip (an electronic dipstick in the system memory).
The tank levels are then shown on the Smart-Dip display in a continuous cycle.

What products can be measured ?
Almost any non Flammable product can be measured, with densities ranging from 0.500 to 60.
Consult your supplier for confirmation.

 How accurate is it ?
You should expect accuracy to within approximately 30mm of actual fluid level. The slight variation is due to fluid density and atmospheric pressure changes, and inherant changes in the electronics / wiring etc. The system is not quite as accurate as radar systems, but the price certainly reflects this. It also does not suffer from the effects of metal objects such as stiffening bars etc in the tank, as ultrasonic systems are susceptible to. Ultrasonic systems also require the tip of the sensor to be cleaned regularly. The Smart-Dip system is a simple design for people who require a reasonably accurate system for re-ordering and basic stock control, if you require exact levels, the extra expense of a radar system is required.

How do I view the tank levels ?

Can it do my fuel management and recording as well as the tank gauging ?
Yes, you can combine the SmartDip system with a SmartFill fuel management system to perform both tasks. You then have a complete fuel management and reporting system in the one box.

Is installation simple ?
The system is quite simple to install. Installation of the pressure sensor into the tank / pipe work may require fittings to be added, or in some cases existing fittings etc are satisfactory. On double skinned tanks the sensor needs to be installed through the top of the tank in a sealed metal tube.

The manufacturers can assist with suggestions for installing ports etc. The system also requires power to be connected to the Smart-Dip, and a data cable needs to run from the Smart-Dip to each tank sensor.
